The Allan C. Barnes
Peaceful Warriors Project

"I would especially like to thank the Peaceful Warriors Project for celebrating the stories, the important stories and creative power of our Veterans. Our Veterans all have stories to share. Many of them turn to the arts, playing, composing, writing creating as a way to share their experiences. I know this first hand because my Dad served in world war two, his love for music and also playing Jazz saxophone which he passed on to me the love of all kinds of music has been a big part of my life. Sharing their stories is the best way we can honor our Veterans Our nation must keep the promises we made to our Veterans, all of them whether it's healthcare, a chance at a good job or the military recognition they have earned. Beyond that we have a duty to honor them, remember them and share their stories and their songs... that's what the Peaceful Warriors Project is all about."
~U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow
“I’m a Peaceful Warrior because I understand how lucky I am to be an American and because I have fought next to those who would even give their life to be able to preserve what we enjoy day in and day out. I’ve often said if you want to thank a Veteran for your freedom, enjoy it, don’t misuse it, don’t abuse it. But enjoy it, sit around the table have some great laughs, sit around the table and eat your hot dogs and your hamburgers and enjoy it, but don’t forget who gave it to you. I’m a Peaceful Warrior now because I have been in the position where it wasn’t peaceful; it was nothing but chaos, killing and bleeding. And now I can be peaceful. I can live in a country where I know I am going to be OK.”
